KwaZulu-Natal Cruise Terminal Pty Ltd (KCT) was chosen to finance and construct the new cruise terminal in the Port of Durban.
This represents a significant opportunity for the Precinct, as the passengers from cruise liners, such as the MSC, will alight from the ships directly into the Point Waterfront Precinct, thus bringing a much needed boost to the tourism industry in the area.
Gate & Door Control was contracted to manufacture and install two 5m manual boom gates on either side of the kerb to secure the access to the Terminal. In order to reduce any obstruction to traffic, the boom gates were mounted on heavy cement bases just next to the driveway.
We opted for drop-down catch posts to support the poles so there would be no obstruction in the driveway and thus barring the entrance of larger trucks.
